The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.
From the bride: “…In high school, I went on a mission trip to Guatemala, and fell in love with the people, the place, the culture, the language, everything. Since then, I have been to a few more countries. I love to travel and immerse myself in other cultures, play in nature, be adventurous, etc. My friend that I roomed with on the Guatemala trips is a few years older than me. Her very best friend growing up’s dad went on a mission trip to a country in Africa and met a Swedish man. Her dad basically said, “you would love my daughter.” The Swedish man did fall in love with the daughter, and a few months later they got married and the Swedish man moved to my home town, Winchester, Ky. The Swedish man’s older brother was introduced to a girl from my hometown, fell in love, and is now also in the process of moving to America. Well, the Swedish man’s older brother’s best friend is Simon. One day Simon jokingly said, “well, where’s my American love?” They introduced Simon to me, and his boldness and fierceness, yet caring and sweet spirit overwhelmed my heart. So a very long and wild story short, now here we are, almost a year later, planning a wedding.”
My favorite thing about this wedding wasn’t the beautiful weather, the delicate details, the best man’s incredible song, or the surprise dance by the couple mid reception….although I loved all of those things. The thing that stood out to me the most is how much they adore each other. After their ceremony we crept outside to wait for guest to filter into the receptions space, and I managed to snap a few extra shot of the couple. They are absolutely brimming with love and adoration for one another, but are also able to be completely relaxed and hilarious together.
Jo and Simon are full of Happiness & Humor. They are remarkably kind to each other and the support and love from their friends and family was intoxicating. It was beyond humbling to get to photograph their wedding and I am so happy to be able to see where their journey goes from here!
I could go on and on, but I really should just let the images speak for themselves. Scroll on to see some of my favorite shots of the day.
