My lovely Friends, I am finally here to talk about my first experience at a photographer at New York Bridal Fashion Week. My little wedding loving heart was given about all it could handle between a three day whirlwind of photographing brand activations, runway shows, wedding Dress presentations, parties, galas, and workshops. It was the kind of experience I hope to relive in my career as a photographer as many times as I possible can, in the center of the industry, where the fantasy and stories behind all of our weddings are created. I am so so grateful to have had the opportunity and I hope you all enjoy peering through my photos of that magical week.
It all kicked off for me at the Baccarat flagship location with event designers Olio. They had decked the store out in luxurious florals for and event to be held later that day: an Afterparty celebrating the latest work, straight from the runway, from legendary gown designer Ines Di Santo. Scroll down to see some of the lush, feminine designs from the talented team:
The inspiration for this particular collection was taken from the Norwegian fairy tale “East of the Sun West of the Moon”, which, in essence, is a story of a brave young girl from a poor family battling supernatural forces to free a young man (trapped by day in the body of a great, white bear) from a terrible spell. It is a long, bewitching tale and the illustrated version I kept as a child hold rich memories for me personally. I was thrilled to watch this detailed collection walk down the runway.
After the show, the models piled amidst yards of swirling fabric onto a wrapped Chambord double decker bus and headed to Baccarat, where guest mingled and sipped on Champagne. The floral designs spilled onto the Manhattan street and complimented to intricate detailing of the delicate bridal gowns. Baccarat’s sparkling background of the showroom was the perfect backdrop for the models to display the elegant dresses in the window, while a DJ played hip tunes till the end of the evening.
