Micro weddings are here to stay, and in my opinion, that is a good thing. I realize that things have shifted, and its sometimes hard to compromise when it comes to planning a wedding. As my friend Jaclyn once said “What is important to you, was already there.” and I have thought about that many times since watching so many of my couples move from a grand affair to a smaller celebration.
Here is what my sweet bride, Devin, had to say about her intimate, tiny Kentucky wedding:
‘First, the weather could not have been more perfect! I threw a fit about the potential for rain early in the week so Keegan said he hoped it was sunny. Because I’m difficult I rejected that optimism and told him that I needed it to be chilly but not too cold, and overcast but not too threatening. He jokes that I’m Goldie locks, but look who got her way 🤷🏼♀️
Being such a small ceremony we were able to have our typical routines. I woke up and ran and had some morning downtime with Keegan. We got ready together – aside from putting on my dress – which I actually would recommend. It was so intimate.
Second, I’ve never seen people show up and put together an event that looked like it had been planned for months as opposed to just a week or two. Rebecca Stone overnighted the most amazing earrings. My friend Sara brought a basket of blankets for our guests. My childhood best friend learned how to do a beautiful hair style and toted my camera around in the morning. A local artist made tasting mugs for everyone. Our friend Tyler pulled off the most beautiful and fitting ceremony. And somehow – even though only a handful of our closest people were there – the day felt more full of love than I could have imagined. “
